CMS Volcanoes: Volcano Research

* Input volcano name, click on “Eruptive History” on left. Look at “Eruptive Characteristics” on the right and SCROLL DOWN all the way at look at ALL characteristics. Search for key words like “lahars,” “pyroclastic flows,” “lava flows”
* Images of Volcano - Input your volcano name on right. At your volcano page, click “Photo Gallery” on the left. Use information in caption to understand image, you may use information in your podcast

* Use if you find a word you aren’t familiar with like “lava dome” or “pyroclastic flow” etc.

* Map of tectonic plates with arrows for motion

* Images of Volcano Formation - Click on “Eruption Dynamics.”
- If Divergent, click on “Spreading center volcanism”
- If Convergent, click on “Subduction zone volcanism”
- If Hot Spot, click on “Intraplate volcanism”
* Green - Convergent boundary, plates are moving together, subduction

* Research - input your volcano in the top right corner in the search box

* Research - Input your volcano name, use summary information

* Paricutin - Click on “Historical Eruptions.” Click on Paricutin.
* Krakatau - Click on “Historical Eruptions.” Click on Krakatau.

* Krakatau - Click on “Historical Eruptions.” Click on Krakatau.

* Kilauea - use the tabs on the left to find more information

* Input volcano name, click on “Eruptive History” on left. The first eruption listed is the most recent eruption. Start date is on the left, end date is on the right. The last one listed (at the bottom) is the first eruption of your volcano. Pick a larger eruption from your history to describe the characteristics.
* Use the link for “Photo Gallery” on the left as well. There is good information about eruptions next to each of the pictures.
