Build Background Knowledge

Use reference sources and books to build your background knowledge and narrow your topic. Look for keywords, events, and names. Follow recommended links to narrow the topic.

Google Searching-
  • Limit search results to government sites- topic .gov  (Example Abigail Adams .gov) 
  • Use the same strategy to limit results to organizations. Replace .gov with .org
  • Helpful sites include National Parks, National Historical Sites, Historical Societies, and museums
  • Check Reference lists on websites to find additional credible sources.
